BEACHES IN BIMINI BAY
Bimini Bay beaches are known for their crystal clear waters and white sands. Though they can hardly be considered crowded, most of Bimini’s popular beaches are found on the west side of North Bimini. Radio Beach is known to be the most popular, though Blister Beach and Spook Hill are also well known.
If you are seeking more privacy, we recommend the many small but public beaches in North Bimini owned by the various guesthouses and beach clubs. Alternately, you can take a boat out to the Cays off Bimini Bay. These beaches are hard to reach, but they are worth it for the seclusion they offer.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Fountain of Youth:
Legend has it that the waters of The Fountain of Youth, situated between North and South Bimini, have healing properties. According to the mythology, whoever drinks from the fountain is granted the boon of immortal youth!
Healing Hole:
The Healing Hole, situated in the southern fringes of the Bimini Bay Islands, is a small freshwater well that pumps cool, mineral laden fresh water that has been found to have curative properties.
The Lost City of Atlantis
In 1968, huge limestone blocks off the coast of north Bimini led many to believe that these were the remains of the Plato’s lost, fabled city of Atlantis. Many divers come here to examine this half-mile stretch of neatly aligned relics, though no consensus has emerged whether or not the legend is true.
The Bimini Bay Museum
The Bimini Bay Museum, sheltered in the restored 1920 two-story original post office and jail – a three-minute walk from the seaplane ramp – showcases varied artifacts, including Adam Clayton Powell's domino set, Prohibition photos, rum kegs, Martin Luther King Junior's immigration card from 1964, and a fishing log and rare fishing films of Papa Hemingway. The exhibit includes film shot on the island as early as 1922.
